Stanley closing US plant that made its famed yellow tape measures – because its foreign model is more popular

It’s a shame about the 300 jobs lost, but honestly, I’ve been buying the Chinese-made Stanley tapes for years and they’re just as good.
300 families affected just because people prefer the cheaper foreign model. I’ll stick with the US-made one as long as I can find it.
I’ve had my US-made Stanley tape for 20 years – it’s built like a tank. The new ones feel flimsy, but I guess most folks just want something cheap.
This is exactly what happens when companies chase profits over quality. Those 300 workers deserve better.
I wonder if the foreign model is actually more popular or if Stanley just wanted to cut costs. Either way, 300 jobs is a big hit for the town.
I’ve used both versions, and the new one is lighter and easier to handle. Still sad for the workers though.
